This motivational and inspirational story depicts the life of Richard Marlborough, a runner they call ‘The Kid.’ The multi-dimensional theme details a journey through the marathon of life. Richard’s purpose is to reach the line in the MARATHON to realize his meaning in both struggles.

He understands that the formidable demands of marathon racing insist that he keep things simple, in order to survive his harshest test and soon realizes that life has the same requirements. ‘Simple—keep it simple, thinks Richard. Just one short leg of the race at a time.

Simple, breath and stride—keep it simple—don`t overwork. Relax—think, strategize—force the mind to work harder than the body to relieve some of the pressure. Withstand, withstand—keep it simple and survive. Yeah, it’s still a time for survival—not yet to attack. If one needs to fight tomorrow—then one has to rest today. If one needs energy for the final mile—one has to conserve now. If the wish is to reach the Promised Land—one must spend the least amount of labour to get through these next twelve miles. Search for the revelations. But for this moment—just try to rest. Keep the thought of the unbearable pain out of the mind. Pain drains the body, use the mind to stay alert—think of anything other than pain—try to rest.’

The Kid knows that no matter how hard he tries to keep things simple, pain has the final say. The demons of fear, sorrow and sadness, regret and remorse assault him without mercy. All the while pain saturates his being with soul sorrow, heartache and enough physical torture to emasculate the runner. The demon of despair senses the vulnerability and vows to capture his soul for the dark side.

The runner is all alone. And in his time of despair, only love stays by his side for support. The question is. Can love defeat anger, hate, despair, intolerable pain and The Other.
